Newbie to integrated mods for phpBB

PostAuthor: tc1967uk » Sun Oct 22, 2006 11:03 pm

Hi

I was looking at mods & portals for phpbb and came across this site and the IntegraMOD2 site. Your site gives a little explanation of of what it is about plus a list of all mods straight from the homepage. Brill

Can anyone please tell me if KisMOD is a newer version of your program or vice versa?
If it is just a diferent version, why have two?
Are there new mods being considered for integration and where is the list?
How easy is it for a novice to integrate new mods into it, or is that just for experts? I may want to include other 'normal' phpbb mods from elsewhere.
What are your plans to adapt when phpBB3 is released?

Thanks for your help and apologies if this is in the wrong place.

TC.

KisMod is going to be the next version that comes out, it will be based on phpBB3, while Integramod is based on phpBB2.

Im not exactly sure what is being considered, there are a ton of posts on suggestions, and also instructions on how to integrate certain mods into your board.

That all depends on the mod, and some are just as easy as integrating them into phpBB2, some need a little editing, and some may not work at all.

So KisMOD is a soon-to-be-released modded version of the pre-release Olympus?

Does that mean it will have all the features of Olympus, plus all the mods advertised on your front-page?

Not really KisMOD will be a modded version of Olympus when it is released, as for mods no decision has been made as to what mods will be included or excluded in this new version.

I think thats right anyway...LOL

So are you saying that KisMOD won't be realeased before Olympus? I got the impression from the homepage that it was due to be released soon. I was hoping to start using it either Oct or Nov 06...

141 is releasing soon. KisMod cannot be released until the forum that it is built on (phpbb3) is released.

Sorry for being a dope, but how can 141 be released soon if KisMOD is waiting for Olympus? Is 141 just a test version?

1.4.1 is the next release of IntegraMod, going from 1.4.0 to 1.4.1

Arrrggghh. I'm no clearer. IntegraMod is 141, but not the same as KisMod?

Don't let the sitename confuse you...

There is a story behind it...

Everything started on Integramod.com.
The latest version of Integramod was 1.4.0.

Then there was a split, because the site-owner (Wekke) of Integramod.com wasn't available most of the time when needed...
So, the developers started their own site to be able to give better support. They called it Integramod2.com.
The siteowner of Integramod.com wasn't very happy with that and started a new version on his own.
To make the confusion complete, he named his version 2.0
So, Integramod2.com needed a new name to avoid confusion.

Michaelo was already working on KISS PORTAL, a version build on phpbb3.
And there was the idea to start with the name KISMOD for version 1.4.1, being the next version before KISS PORTAL.
KISS PORTAL will be completly different and it will take some time before release...
1.4.1 will be an upgraded 1.4.0 with a few changed MOD's, but more importantly]bugfixed and stable[/u]
It might take some time for KISS PORTAL to reach that stability and to find these same MOD's build for phpbb3.
I'm sure many users will even wait after it's release, untill it's proven to be stable, before using it for a life site.

Maybe KISMOD wasn't such a good name for 1.4.1 against confusion, because it has nothing to do with KISS PORTAL, and still based on phpbb2.
There has been a lot discussion about this in the past weeks, and I'm still not sure if that name will stay for version 1.4.1.

1.4.1 is the version everyone is waiting for, right now...

Integramod2.0 by Wekke on Integramod.com can not be compared with the old version...
Wekke started from scratch and turned it completly uncompatible with phpbb MOD's by adding the latest version of Categorie Hierarchy.
He's doing a great job at it, but it's still unproven to be stable...

That's the story behind the names.

just a little clarification...Wekke was not the site owner. He is the host, MasterDavid was the owner and developer. This is a common misunderstanding which lends credibility to Wekkes actions.
