Premade Questions?

I noticed a few people have started using this premade looking questionare. Did I miss something in the rules or a post somewhere?

I think it's a good idea, but I think if it's going to be done "all" the questions should get answered if possible. I've seen alot of people half-fill them out and we still have to ask them questions. It just makes the whole process longer and people tend to go elsewhere for help if not answered quickly.

It is a mod that assists us in getting important info for deciding how to help someone. With 141 about to be released, we need an easy and quick way to know if we are trying to fix a 141, or 140 site. This mod has only been enabled on the support forums and only shows up when you make a new post. If the Question asked, requires the form be complete, and it is not, just ask them to complete the form.

Here is how I see it. The problems that a user is having are not my problems. I will do what I can to help solve them, but if they are too lazy to fill in the neccesary info, then I will not be bothered to do the additional research neccesitated by the lack of info. The url requirement is in response to a few members who have broken the license agreement, and removed the copywrite info from the footer. This allows us to see if the site is legal and it allows us to view any errors that they are reporting.
When 141 is officially released, it will look different from the beta in a few areas. Since no support is offered for the beta, we need to confirm that we are not trying to fix an unsupported version.

nice mod, is it going to be available and can it be modified to ask the questions you would be using it for?

i had installed the mod 'Help Desk' on my forum, but it left alot to be desired, so i uninstalled it. this is really nice.

it is a simple addon and yes, it is easy to change the questions. There is no acp control for it, so the questions have to be edited in the language file.

if there is no acp control for it, how does it know which forums to appear in?

when i went to check it out, it looked to me like it will post even if required fields are left blank. can it be set so all required fields are filled out?

i guess i just want to know how it works really.

most know my forum is a graphics forum which deals with Paint Shop Pro, and there are 5 versions that are currently being used by us PSPers. which in each version some of the tools have been moved from 1 place to another. so it is very help to know which version a person is using when the post a question for help.

Not for me because I don't/won't have any users on any of my boards but I mean I like it for here. It's a very good idea, and I'm also with HelterSkelter with the opinions on if a user is too lazy to fill in the data required. But on the other hand, it would be possible to make certain fields required or the post will not work.

Of course then we get a whole other bunch of posts about "Why won't my post work?!) lol

The way I see it, if someone doesn't want to include their link, then it's obvious that they are doing something they aren't supposed to, like removing the link.

Offtopic: The switch from text to image on the footer was a good idea as well, whoever thought of that

there is some concern about hackers, bots and privacy, and I understand that. I also would understand if when their prob is solved and they edit the title to [SOLVED], they may remove the link.
As for now, I have not made the fields required, because, as you can see by some of the posts genuinely dont require it, and at a glance It may take a fair bit of hacking to do so.

Open includes/functions_post.php and make sure there are no characters, including spaces, after ?> at the end of the file.

Thanks Teelk, that fixed me right up, well with those errors anyway.

Now if I can figure out why the form won't display.

I checked and the forum location is correct in common.php.

Remove all the numbers and letters between the bbcode bracket and it will work. Just leave the normal code for bold or whatever format your trying to display.
