[Solved] Can outside links change your preferences?

I just came to the site to check up on everything, and I was surprised to see that it was a very basic theme.

Turns out that somehow the "Lite Version" had been turned on for my account.

My first suspicion was that someone had gotten into my account, or maybe an admin changed it. Upon inspection of the login security I noticed that only my IP's were listed.

Then I remembered that I had searched google for something earlier and one of the results was on this site. I didn't pay much attention at the time but I think the style used was the same as I found it here. If I'm not mistaken spiders are encouraged to use the "Lite Version" so this would make sense.

I wouldn't think that if you visited the site from an outside link, it would automatically change your settings to whatever the spider had, not to mention apparently log you in to do so.

I don't know what caused it but the same thing happened to me. Logging out and back in fixed it...

Yea, would have been the same, but in the future you can just scroll to the bottom and click "Full Version"

Was simply a firefox "Remember Me" feature that logged me in and adapted to the style at the time I imagine.
