Java applet in banner?

PostAuthor: Sligo » Tue May 29, 2007 10:05 pm

I would like to add a days/hours countdown as a banner in the upper right of my site:

[code]<applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http]

If I set the banner type to HTML i just get a white box. Is there another way to do this, or can I add some more .scripting to make this applet appear?

You should be able to integrate it right into your code in overall_header.tpl

Will I be able to rotate the applet with banners I've set up through the ACP? My .scripting skills are practically non-existent...

Well it is possible, but not with the banner system, unless Helter or someone more familiar with the banner system knows a way

Otherwise you would have to make a .script that rotates the applets for you, which I can't do either

In that case I can live without the rotating banner. Can someone tell me where I need to put this .script in the overall_header?

Attach or post your overall_header.tpl and show what code you are wanting, and someone will try and give it back recoded

Many thanks!!!

The countdown (Java Applet) I'd like to sit in the upper right of the page:

<applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http]

Overall Header:
[code]<DOCTYPE><mod><if><script></script><endif><endif> <link><script></script><link><BEGIN><script><if></script><END><Start><script> <var></script><End><BEGIN><script><window></script><END><script> <function> </script><script></script><Prillian><BEGIN><script><function></script><END><BEGIN><script>if ( {buddy_alert.BUDDY_ALERT} ){window.open('{buddy_alert.U_BUDDY_ALERT}', '_buddyalert', 'HEIGHT=225,resizable=yes,WIDTH=400');}</script><END><Prillian></head><body><BEGIN>     <table>     <tr>     <td><span><b>{L_BOARD_DISABLE}</b></span></td>     </tr>    </table><END><Start><Banners><table><tr><td><table><BEGIN><tr><td><div>{BANNER_1_IMG}</div></td></tr><END><BEGIN><tr><td><div>     <applet>         <param>         <param>         <param>         <param>         <param>     </applet></div></td></tr><END></table></td><td><table><BEGIN><tr><td><div>{BANNER_3_IMG}</div></td></tr><END><BEGIN><tr><td><div>{BANNER_4_IMG}</div></td></tr><END></table></td><td><table><BEGIN><tr><td><div>{BANNER_5_IMG}</div></td></tr><END><BEGIN><tr><td><div>{BANNER_6_IMG}</div></td></tr><END></table></td></tr></table><End><End>{QBARS}<a></a><table><tr><td><table><tr> <td><a><img></a></td><BEGIN><td><div>{BANNER_0_IMG}</div></td><END><td>     </td></tr></table><br><table><tr><td><a><div><img></div></td><td>{QMENUS}</td><td><a><div><img></div></td></tr></table><table><tr><td></td><td></td><td></td></tr></table>  <strong><font>{SITE_DESCRIPTION}</font></strong> <BEGIN><br><div><table>     <tr>         <td><img></td>         <td><span>{ctracker_message.L_MESSAGE_TEXT}</span></td>     </tr>     <tr>         <td><span><b><a>{ctracker_message.L_MARK_MESSAGE}</a></b></span></td>     </tr></table></div><br><END>  <BEGIN><table>   <tr>     <td><span> {L_LW_EXPIRE_REMINDER}</span></td>   </tr></table><END>  {CALENDAR_BOX}<BEGIN><table><tr><td>{BANNER_16_IMG}</td></tr></table><END><table><BEGIN><tr><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td></tr><END><BEGIN><tr><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td></tr><END><BEGIN><tr><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td></tr><END><tr> {PORTAL_HEADER}<td><img></td><td>

Is there a way to create an HTML countdown that doesn't use Java? I'm guessing not, but I thought I'd ask. If worse comes to worst I can just shoehorn the countdown at the bottom of the page...

BTW, my site's been running stable for a while and I am extremely pleased with the package. To the creators and contributors, I cannot thank you enough for putting IntegraMod together!
