Great tutorial. I am creating a new forum. I allready have it up and running. My users like it better than the old one. I only have a fist full of uers,but dont want them to have to re register. How can I just strip out the users from one database and add them to my new one? Unfortunatly, both databases have two differentnames. Is this infact gonna be possible? or do they need to re register? I can if I need to just delete my new one and start over using the above tutorial, but Im not sure how to do it since the tutorial is cpanel and I use Direct Admin.... Any help would be most appreciated. Oh yeah and if possible can I save all of the posts in the forum too?

You have to play with it to learn... Open both data bases and comare tables for phpbb_users then on your old forum you have to drop the tables that dont exist on your new structure and everything whould go fine... I dont remember cause its been a while and you have to play with it ;) if I can teach myself...you can too! ;

Thx for all the advice.
can i just ask another couple of questions.
I'm currently changing hosts and waiting on 141. so will i lose all my data so far when i upgrade to 141 ? and should i wait or is it ok to keep adding pages until 141 comes out ?
is it also better to update when i'm with the old host or when i transfer over ? (the new host offers phpBB 2.0.20 wheras the old one hasnt upgraded from phpBB 2.0.17) and i'm sort of in limbo at the moment

Sorry I didn't reply to your pm before.

In my opinion you would be better upgrading to 2.0.20 on your own phpbb system, then waiting until 141 is available then making the switch over then. The upgrade process from 140/2.017 to 141/2.020 is far more involved than going through the phpbb update and then onto 141.

There is no reason why you would lose all your data. You should be able to transfer both users and posts successfully into the 141.
