Posting approval from Admin or Moderators

PostAuthor: doswald » Wed May 24, 2006 11:46 pm

Just want to ask guys, are there any capability with my 1.3.2c wherein if a certain user tries to post in a restricted forum, an approval from the moderator of that forum is needed before the actual post can be read.

Please help. Thanks

Thanks A,

Yes I know there is a Permission MOD in IM, but what I really want to explain is that when a certain member tries to post in restricted forum/ room let say. They can still post however, a notification from Moderator of that room or Administrator, and that Moderators and Administrators will accept the post and after they accept, the post will then appears in the forum.

I dont know if I overlooked this please refresh me <img>

Thanks A.

Regards

I think this is exactly what the Approval Mod is doing. You select which forum you want to pre-moderate, and who is accepting or rejecting the messages.

When a user post a message, the message is either hidden or changed to "Waiting approval", until approval is made.

Furthermore, you can choose which users to pre-moderate, or which not to.

The only problem with this mod is the following: although you can select a normal user to approve the messages, the function will work properly only if that user had the function of moderator.

Thanks sanji,

Yes I follow and work in Approval mod (sorry to confuse you guys when I say Permission MOD). I enable the approval for a certain forum. create a moderator and assign it in that forum however, when I try to post (using an ordinary user), notifications, etc that expectedly sent to the Moderator didn't arrive/ work.

Can anyone please help me. Sorry to cause you headache guys <img>

I figured it out guys. OMG, after so many hours of floating mind, finally!.

Another one, please forgive me. Will the approval affect also Sub-Forums?

Thanks to all of your response. <img>

I am not 100% sure, but I think you have do define permission for each forum and sub-forum: a sub-forum is not automatically pre-moderated, even if its main forum is...

I put "Is Moderator" in a sub-forum, however, it didn't work? Will the approval affect only a forum and not on a sub-forums?

Thanks

The person who will be able to approve the messages has to be set as "Is Moderator" for the sub-forum. That is, as a normal moderator.

Plus, you have to add his name in the Approval Menu in the moderator box of the corresponding sub-forum. That is, as a user with the right to approve the messages.

Only then should it work...
