People have to have an email account to register... but what happens if their account becomes closed and they have their notification turned on or are subscribed to threads that are still active?

This isn't a huge problem, but my site is fairly small compared to many others here. I hate getting the bounced back emails. Sometimes it takes a while for a person to log back in and check their PMs. <img>

Is there a way to deactivate their ability to recieve emails from the forum?

You could always edit their profile to say no to recieving notifications about blah blah blah.. If you are Admin, just adjust their profile accordingly.

How do you kill their subscriptions temp. until they fix their mail account or switch it?

Are these paid subscriptions? Cause other than that I am not sure.

I actually meant subscriptions to posts... so I guess "watched items"

That sounds exactly like what I'm talking about. Unfortunately I'm fighting the urge to mod my forum beyond what is offered in the core install. With 2848 downloads it sounds like I'm not the only one that wants a mod like this.
