De.scription and Message

I'm getting a lot of complaints from users that they are entering the codes correctly but the system still says they are incorrect.

- Ideally I want to force the system to use one clear font lines Times Roman that can be read by all.

- Worst case to turn the system off.

Any ideas on either?

I have had that same problem since the damn thing came out, sometimes my board, my members.. sometimes me myself trying to sign up for other members. I don't know how many times I have been banned or locked out of a site because the stupid images never worked right. No matter how hard I concentrated on them they always seemed to be wrong.

So the way I see it, is if you're having that much trouble, turn it off, if you start getting spam, then re-enable it and offer tips to your users (or do your own suggestion with making the images easier)

If you do resort to having to use it, but want to offer tips, edit the tpl file itself with a link or something with maybe a pop-up box with your tips, or some links to contact you directly.

It is very possible to lose would-be members this way out of sheer annoyance

I'll agree with those semntiments.

Only one problem unless I'm missing something I can't see any way of turning the damned thing off!

So, go one how does one turn it off?

Could it not be done somehow that you can still use it, but instead of random letters and numbers, it can be set permanently to something like "comeandjoin" or whatever. Same word for everyone and still keep the spamming crap out. Maybe change the word every month or two if you felt you had to change it up.

if you enter an incorrect letter and submit, you CANNOT hit the back button to try again, you must refresh the page. If you dont refresh the page, there is a new set of letters, but your still seeing the old ones

For myself... I realize that refreshing should be the best way, but before I knew that the remaining data is not lost during refresh, I've also done it and retyped a second possibility and it got accepted. So I think it doesn't clear the code until you refresh. And I'm absolutely positive about this... I've done it several times.

Anyhow... Having to explain all this to people that simply would like to register is a little too much to ask, don't you think? If I wouldn't have done registration for some people myself, they wouldn't have bothered a 3rd time them selfs... Not even thinking about the people that don't know me or don't bother sending a message to the admin! It's simply causing sites to miss out on new members!

Here is an example on one of the codes (I've already tried my best to make it as readable as possible):
[flash=,:2aznxcun]http://www.net-clan-gaming.eu/ftp/ngage/images/confim_code_example.JPG[/flash:2aznxcun]

You tell me what those letters are and I'll tell you... NO, they were not accepted! For sure you see the same as I did! And I've tried multiple possibilities (no matter how remote). Didn't get this one to work though. Only after 4 refreshes (with similarly easy codes) I finally got one to work!

I'm guessing there is some sort of a bug there somewhere, but can't place it! I did get distracted by some friends coming over last night, but I'll get to removal via PCP after this post and will update you all!

Good guess... that's what I thought, but hard to tell if it's a small "q" or a caps "Q"... depends on the font I'd say! Didn't work anyhow!

Anyhow... Just created an account on my site without ever getting asked for the confirmation code! ;)

Hope it helps!

Will still try to find out to why we can't get a better image that's readable to all or to get it to use only 1 letter type that clearly shows the differences between normal and CAPS.

Till then... all the best,

Did you try turning off random font? Ours is off and not hard to read.

I think I tried tons of different settings and my users and admins that tested them with me complained about all of them! Gotten pretty sick of the bitching... so this will be my initial solution <img>

Well your remove captcha doesn't help things.
Sure removes it, but now when I go to profile page, the top of the screen is full of errors.

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/k1jon/public_html/forum/profile.php:1) in /home/k1jon/public_html/forum/includes/page_header.php on line 1171

I put it back but still getting errors.
Might be because the freakn CT errors are popping up like mad with the PCP section. Maybe caused an issue.
