Continously Logged out

Hello,

I ´m eyperiencing a problem with my board that came up just now!
Alle users are logged out continously.
They log in and then they can make one or two moves on the forum before they are logged out again!

The same happens to me now!
I almost cannot get into the admin panel any longer nor can I do anything in there before I am once again asked to enter my username and password to get into the admin section!

The strange thing is that even unregistered users who are shown as guest in the admin panel disappear after let ´s say 5 secs before they then - if they reload a page on the forum - are shown again!
It is as if the server is deleting its records again and again!

I have changed nothing on the forum...so what can it be?

OK...I have just recapped what I have done today at the forum!

I banned a user for spamming (viagra or something), then banned his IP!
After that I did some posting and went to the admin panel and checked out the stats of the banners!

Back then the problem hasn ´t appeared....thank god I have got a backup from yesterday <img>

What could this problem be...it ´s unbelievable...

btw...my cookie settings are
Cookie domain .[domain]
Cookie name: XXX
Cookie path: /

To keep you up to date:

I just ran the cookie MOD!

No improval of the situation!

Settings now changed to:

Cookie domain: [domain] (without a . in front of it)
Cookie name: XXX
Cookie path: /forum

It still appears as if it cleans the cache or whatever!
No user - not even a guest - remains listed on the index paage of the admin panel!

Edit: Max Allowed Sessions is at 1,000

Edit 2: I have just added the . in front of the cookie domain which the cookie MOD didn ´t give me <img>

You can also try emptying your phpbb_sessions table in your db using phpmyadmin

It was the same with both !

But strangely it has just disappeared now...well at least I don ´t recognize the problem any longer!

Can I still - for security and optimization reasons - empty the phpbbmyadmin sessions table?
Is it just the empty button?

there is probably no need to do so. Im guessing it was a browser cache issue

But the strange thing about it is that it was emptying the user sessions which are viewable in the admin panel!
Usually there are around thirty to a hundred people listed up including guests!

When I viewed it then there were two or three and some seconds later when I had to relogin then there was only me!
They should stay there for five minutes!

What could that have been?

more than likely it was the cookie domain setting redirecting you from /forum back to your sites root, but it could be anything from dns server errors to conflicting .js scripts. I have had issues like that that affected all my sites including Mikes phpbbireland.com which has been running phpbb3 since the alpha releases. Seems most of the time, if I did not do something to cause the issue, it solves itself in a day or two which is why I think it may sometimes be outside your server.
