MySql Overload

PostAuthor: .QUACK.Major.Pain » Thu Jun 11, 2009 3:41 am

Just found my site suspended because of MySql overload.

The reply I got:

The problem was MySQL usage, pushing through at about 27qps, which is somewhat excessive.

Site that was the issue http://www.aaquacks.com

Page stats:
Portal: [Page generation time: 0.6567s (PHP: 57% | SQL: 43%) | SQL queries: 64 | GZIP enabled | Debug on]
Forum: [Page generation time: 1244720341.02s (PHP: 100% | SQL: 0%) | SQL queries: 109 | GZIP enabled | Debug on]

Things I do notice, PHP is always 100%. I asked before with no reply.
SQL queries on forum page 109.

I think I will have to thin put some of the ads maybe?
Or is it something else.

I will look up the previous SQL suggested fix and apply it.

Applied this page header fix: http://www.integramod.com/forum/viewtop ... =18&t=5164

sql queries same or higher.

Notice each time that sql=0%, but queries range 100+

who is your hosting provider?

I had similar problem with powweb then switch to hostgator.
Now no more problems.

Id get shut down daily by PW saying just that, switch to HG and Im never even close.

The buzz was PW had some type of flaw that lets others sort of hijack your quota of allow server side stuff. Wasn't a 100% hack like taking over, but non the less I was forced to move to a new host. No more problems ever. HG is a awesome place.

Who is the parent company?

There is are a few real host, even hostgator is a reseller.

They resell ThePlanet

If your place got gobbled up by who owns PW now it will be a problem.

The place that owns PW now is one of them investment places, they buy up host on the back end for profit only, everyting else 2nd.

Will say I had that problem with em all 132c,d 140.... till I changed host.
I may still try it, it if speeds things up.

this looks to me looks like possibly an error in the installation of a mod

a few mods are notorious for eating up mysql cycles like the Thank User mod. Though I have not investigated it, it is possible that the Advanced User Color mod could have similar issues since user color is stored in the db and called on each page load. Try disabling it and see if it has any affect

Don't think it can be disabled.

We had to shut down our site and move to something new.

Our host said the logs were showing we were hitting 80,000 sql queries per hour and causing overload issues.

We decided to move to phpbb3 and stargate.
Enjoying it so far. Lots more to learn.

Our bindepot site still running integramod, and seems to be running fine with sql at 8% and 135 sql queries.
But gonna have to keep an eye on this as well.
