PCHelpWorld - New Design!

PostAuthor: maddocks » Wed Jun 07, 2006 5:42 am

Hi,

i would just like to introduce you to my new site which has been online for a total of 2 weeks, PCHelpWorld. http://www.pchwforum.com is the first major site that i have created. All previous sites have been basic, boring and not getting traffic. I am only 15 years old and felt like setting myself a target, to become one of the biggest technical support forums on the internet. I am currently tweaking it changing themes and optimising the site for search engines and visitors. So, what do you think of it and what do you think i could do to improve it? Thanks for your support

looks like it could be a really useful site for many.

I wonder how you added the text as you have loads of [br] about the place. as this is bbcode a simle carriage return would do and would improve presentation.

On the content itself it seemed a more personal presentation than a hollistic/thorough one but time will tell. I too wish to replace a pdu in a machine as the fan is as noisy as a 50cc bike up a 1:4 hill!

I suppose you could add it as a bbcode tag but you would be better backing up your database, opening it in a text editor such as crimson editor or notepadd++ and doing a search and replace.
Find
Code: Select all
[br]
replace with
Code: Select all
rn

you must check that you have the full backup, sometimes the backup from acp fails so check first before you restore the db.

Well,

i had some problems with it displaying blank pages, then the server got moved to a new one. So, i now want to install integramod on the new server only to find they have php5 installed. Could i install it on php5 if i use the phpbb (php4 - 5) converter? I will try on my local own server and if it works will upload it for you to register lol.

Integramod 140 does not run on php5, however the 141 in development does. I am sorry to say it is a matter of waiting for releases if you want php5 compatability.

141 is not out on public beta yet but we are trying to get it out. Even if out, the beta should not be used for a live site as there may be many changes before it is in its final state. Hopefully the beta will not be long.

Hi,

many have been asking where PCHelpWorld has been. Well i have changed some things and now i have it close to finished. I have implemeneted images in more places, drop down bars and faded blocks. What do you think? please make any suggestions whatsoever because the design of this site is critical. Thanks

The main reason i changed was because of the forum board and not integramod. phpBB is a good forum board but it lacked som features i was looking for. It lacked a professional edge which i thought IPB had to offer. Thanks for your comments!
