sort and category blocks

PostAuthor: twitchy » Fri Jul 07, 2006 4:13 am

currently i have a-z listings of games on my site.
what i think would be useful would be a facility/ block to sort them into different categories (eg pc, ps2,xbox etc) and also alphabetically (eg all games beginning with "a" "b" etc) i suppose not unlike the news section with links to the item descriptions etc.

as suggested in the other thread the KB would do all this already. I think such a mod that you propose may be useful, but with other options available you may not find anyone to give it a go.

If you look at the KB here you can see that it can be categorised, searcheable and more. You can make it so that only you can post in there too and you can withold comments too if you do not want them

Oh and an additional. If it took you ages with bbcode in the original reviews, all you need do is open the block in acp and copy it across to a KB.

Re: sort and category blocks

ok I had a look and for my purpose I would need some adaptations if anybodys up for it. Love the " Most Popular :: Toprated Articles :: Latest Articles " facility but "types" are not currently links and also is it possible to have more than one category (since a lot of games are multi-platform) ?

I know this doesn't really help you now... but, the new KB that's being tested with 1.4.1 beta(not yet public) has a lot more features...

It's never too late twitchy, even if the changes don't make it to an official release, there's always modifications that can be done after install.

To answer your question about categories...

Currently, the KB MOD has the ability to have different categories. However, they are all posted in the same forum. The new KB MOD allows you to set which forum the articles from a particular KB category are posted. It also allows you to set permissions for each category.

And, the most interesting new feature is the ability to create new custom fields.

There are also a number of new smaller configurations.

The new KB MOD allows you to set which forum the articles from a particular KB category are posted
.I guess with this feature i could put them into different categories.

is there a possibility i could also cross reference alphabetically?

looking forward to it anyhow and thanks to all of you for all your hard work
