Language block ?

PostAuthor: sanji » Wed Jul 26, 2006 6:17 am

I tried to install the language block, which allows unregistered users to change the language of the forum when several languages are available.

The original block description was described here : http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/4601

It was also discussed several times on the previous IM forum.

So far, I couldn't make it work. The language automatically goes back to English, even when a second language is available (in my case, French).

Did anyone install this block successfully?

Thanks,

sanji

I guess nobody is using this block...

I which it would be installed by default on integramod. It is really useful when you have a bilingual forum, as visitors can not easily choose their language...

do you have im portal or integramod installed?

integramod 140 has auto language
it is looking for the browser language and using that language if availble in integramod (for guests)

so when you have also english and french set for browser language, but french after english it will use english

Thanks Okki for your answer.

I have integramod installed, versions 1.4.0 with all security updates.

I am well aware of the auto-language selection, which is working fine. The problem in my case is that many visitors speaking French but using a browser in English (as most of them live outside Europe) are directed on the English version, while they might enjoy rather the French one.

Also since the blocks are different for registered users and visitors, I can not check by myself the result in French for visitors, as my browsers are all in English!

Therefore, this block would be a nice addition, but if it seems not to work, I might just give up.

Thanks anyway for your time,

sanji

i don't no the mod, so i can not help you with that.
maybe the two mods don't like each other?

and i think in a welcome block, for visitors only, you can tell them they can set the browser for more than one language, and when they prefer french they should set it to the top (with IE), then they get french
