Help installing IM Portal?

PostAuthor: meijin » Fri Feb 22, 2008 1:44 am

Hello all! I am totally a newbie when it comes to phpBB and IM Portal, so hang in there with me...ok?

I have managed to get phpBB installed, configured and working. I had wanted a portal to serve as a front end to the forum. I found this one via a web search. When I attempt to install the version downloaded from here, I get the following error:

Warning

FIND FAILED: In file [language/lang_chinese_traditional/lang_main.php] could not find:

//
// That's all, Folks!
// -------------------------------------------------
?>

MOD .script line #230 :: FAQ :: Report

I have checked on my system and all of the language files seem to be there. So, needless to say, I am completely and totally stuck here with no idea what to do to get it to work. Might someone please be able to assist with this and point me in the right direction? I spent hours trying to find documentation or tutorials for EZ Portal (that did install), but could not find anything. Now I find the great site and documentation for IM Portal and I can't get it to install. My lack of skill and knowledge is really frustrating.

Thanks very much, in advance, for your help. If I have left off any information that you need to assist me...please let me know and I will get it to you ASAP.

it is looking for this exact code

Code: Select all
//// That's all, Folks!// -------------------------------------------------?>

delete this install step from your install instructions and manually do the file edit, placing the "add" code befor the php close tag at the end of the file
?>

then run the install again

Thanks for the help! It is very, very much appreciated! Since I am getting this exact same error on virtually every language file on the system, I am supposing that there is not a short way around this other than touching each of those files?

Thanks again for your help, I am really excited about getting this up and running.

when you get an install error using EM, you have to manually add the code that is erroring, then delete the instruction for that edit, so it will not attempt to do the edit again when you rerun it.
Most lang file edits can go anywhere in the file as long as it is before the php close tag.
