If you have to manually CHMOD your files READ THIS

PostAuthor: ZacFields » Sun Jul 09, 2006 9:53 am

Okay, if you just straight uploaded the unzipped version of the 1.4.1 BETA installation and you have to manually CHMOD your folders via the instructions on the install page, you will need to include the following permissions or the statistics module will not work:

666-/modules/cache/templates/fisubice/content_values.tpl.php
666-/modules/cache/templates/fisubice/content_statistical.tpl.php
666-/modules/cache/templates/fisubice/content_bars.tpl.php
666-/modules/cache/templates/fisubice/decompiled.php.html
666-/modules/cache/explain/e2.html

That is all the permissions differences I can see. I posted this on the other topic but figured we could get better exposure if I posted here so people could see it.

Can someone confirm this??
I really need to know, because I'm working on a Chmoder-script to make a completely automated installer... <img>

And as I can see it's about templates as well, then all existing templates should be included...

I believe that the only file that needs to be CHMODed 666 is decompiled.php.html, and for some reason only some people need to do it. Another problem is that decompiled.php.html isn't part of the IM package, but instead is created by the eXtreme Styles MOD at some point.

Well, I have investigated the Extreme Styles MOD script last week...
...and found out that it's capable of chmod'ing files on its own
Maybe (could be the reason) that's what is failing on some servers, and why they have to do the extra chmod'ing manualy?

This is in the instructions for 140
777 modules
777 modules/cache
777 modules/cache/explain

when there are files or folders in there (in the package), the instructions should be changed

but when the files or folders are created by IntegraMOD they should get the proper chmod settings, when the above settings where set right

:o

EDIT: That can't be the only reason, because it was so on my XAMPP local testsite as well...without needs for permissions in a Windows environement...
hmm...

i think the answer for the styles problem is in the database

this problem not solved yet?

last year (with 140) i have added the color schemes without any problems, want me to look at it??

Edit: I have the solution for the styles problem, as soon as i get access to the svn database i can solve the problem for you all.

When uploading, there should be the folders

modules
modules/cache

the chache should be empty
and both chmoded to 777

Then stats have no problems.

I will also clean the files and folders in the cache, on svn, when permitted.

The method I used to fix my stats module was really easy actually. lol.

Without those permissions, there were a ton of errors on the page. I looked for the ones that said "permission denied" and I CHMODded the file attached to that error to 666. Everytime I would do one more file, it would take some of the errors away. Once I got them all, the stats module worked just fine.

Maybe you can try and confirm this methode

Remove everyting from the cache dir (files and folders), and make shure the cache dir is chmodded 777 and the modules folder also chmod to 777.

I guess i'm a little confused at the issue with this....

Are the pre-chmodded files not chmodded like this? Remember I just unzipped on my hard drive and then simply FTPed the files over to my server so I actually had to manually go through and chmod everything.

I figured a simple way to check it would be to just find somebody who has a working statistics module and see what their chmod settings are on those files. I guess I don't understand how it's possible that I would have to chmod them to 666 and others could leave them at default?

a, there you go, when you unzip on your local machine and then upload they lose the pre-chmodded settings

when you want to use the pre-modded settings you need to upload the zip file and unzip on the server

you can check the chmod settings on the server with your ftp client, and also change them with the client

modules/cache should be empty on a new install, I guess...
I checked it on a previous IntegraMOD version, and it has only a 'explain' directory inside...all empty...
It's probably a left-over that shouldn't be there??
Am I right?

On the other hand, I'm designing the chmoder-script to work for both prÃÂÂ ©- and after-install (with automatic recognition).
And...it would also come in handy whenever you want to move to another server,...for that it is important to know about the cache <img>
I'm thinking about making the chmoder scan the cache for any directories inside the cache and then letting it chmod them all automaticaly...

the cache should be empty, with 140 there was the explain directorie, but it should not be there, then it was a left over from earlyer i think

in any case pre or after the directorie cache should have 777 and be empty, if not you can make it empty when chmodding, it will auto populate again later
