I just created a XAMPP setup preconfigured for IntegraMOD.

You can get the file [url=http]HERE[/url].

What is XAMMP? XAMMP will allow you to simulate your web host on your Windows XP PC. You can install full versions of IntegraMOD including a copy of your currently running forum in order to test upgrading and modding without touching your live forum.

What is pre configured in this version of XAMMP? I setup this version so that PHP 4 is default, but this can be changed to PHP 5.

One installation of IntegraMOD 1.40. This is just so you can see it running. You can install as many versions as you'd like. (login ID & password are im140)

MySQLDumper, This is a great MySQL program written in php that I use on my own host to backup my DB's on a schedule. The really nice part of this allows you to import your large DB's into MySQL very easily. If you install this on your own host please do not use it in the mysqldumper folder, create a non descriptive one instead.

Copy_Users.php, This will allow you to copy your users out of one DB ind into another.

BigDump.php, In case you don't want to use mysqldumper. This will import large DB's into a database very easily.

Michaelo's programs lister. This is a web page that allows you to see your installed programs and open them very easily. Thank you Mike!

There is no installation needed for XAMPP. Just run the XAMPP.EXE file in your root directory(C]To run XAMMP[/b] open the XAMMP folder and double click the xampp-control.exe file.

This will start the control panel. click start next to Apache and MySQL. You should see a green running sign next to each when they are ready.
[flash=,:d7dolj52]http://www.myhorrorstories.com/images/XAMMP.jpg[/flash:d7dolj52]

Once they are running click Admin next to Apache. This will open the XAMMP main page in your browser.
[flash=,:d7dolj52]http://www.myhorrorstories.com/images/XAMMP0.jpg[/flash:d7dolj52]

To see and use the pre installed programs look on the left menu at the botton and click "Open Sites"

You will see a few links, like im140. Click this link, it will open a pre installed version of IM 140. (login name and password are im140)
[flash=,:d7dolj52]http://www.myhorrorstories.com/images/XAMMP1.jpg[/flash:d7dolj52]

If you goto the IM Tools in the Pre installed list of XAMMP programs you will find the copy users tool and bigdump.

If you have any problems please ask here.

How do I install programs like a new copy of IntegraMOD for use in XAMPP?

If you locate the htdocs folder under XAMPP you can create a new folder here and copy all files needed to run your program.

How do I create a new SQL DB?

From the XAMPP main page locate phpMyAdmin in the Tools section. Once the page opens type a name for your new DB into the "Create new database" field. Then hit the create button.
[flash=,:d7dolj52]http://www.myhorrorstories.com/images/XAMMP2.jpg[/flash:d7dolj52]

You then need to create a user for the DB. Click the privlidges Link. Then the "Add new user" link.
[flash=,:d7dolj52]http://www.myhorrorstories.com/images/XAMMP3.jpg[/flash:d7dolj52]

Fill out the user name and passwords fields. Then select the "Check All" link. Scroll to the bottom and hit Go.
[flash=,:d7dolj52]http://www.myhorrorstories.com/images/XAMMP4.jpg[/flash:d7dolj52]

That's it! Your all set.

I was going to try installing IM on XAMPP last weekend but was to lazy to figgure it all out. This will be great.

I want to test AJAXED 2.0.2 on IM to see if it will work.

Thanks bro. I will give it a go this weekend.

No probs mate, just glad I can help out.

Unfortunatly Apache will not start unless port 80 is clear. So anything using that port would first need to be stopped.

I'm hoping most people that run their own forums start using this so they can make changes or upgrade their forums without harming the live board.

This also has the added bonus of being able to run from a portable drive like a USB Flash Drive. I have mine with me all the time so I can tinker anywhere!

Remember if you are on line (broadband/cable etc.) your site can be accessed via port 80 so never use root with no password...

ok, i have not set this up yet, but i do have 2 questions, and excuse me for being so naive.

how do you clear port 80, or find out if it is being used and how do i pw protect it?

and if you put it on a flash drive, do you have to have it on the c drive at all?

thanks in advance guys, you guys really make setting up, running and modding/updating everything so easy, i cannot express my thanks to you enough.

If you are asking if port 80 is clear it most likely is. But when you start the XAMPP control panel and start Apache it will not start if something is using that port.

As for PW protecting, there is a link on the main XAMPP page on the left "Security" I believe that lets you set PW's

If you put it on a flash drive there is no need to have it on your C Drive.

Fantastic! I wish I'd heard of XAMPP before this; it would have made things a lot easier for me. I'll definitely be puttin' a hurting on this program. Thanks!

Oh, and a note: most (but not all) residential ISPs block inbound access to port 80. If you're in doubt, use [url=http]ShieldsUP!![/url]. If you aren't in doubt, use a firewall anyway.
