This is curious. When I change ACP-->Configuration Plus-->Profile Options-->Profile Settings-->Posting-->Always Allow HTML to "Yes" the HTML tags work. I had previously set the Override User Choices for this option to "Yes". The implied effect with my old settings is that the Allow HTML checkbox would always default to "No", irregardless of individual member settings. Instead, this appears to have an effect on viewing HTML in posts. Am I misinterpretting, or is this a small bug?

I expected that to work, but it did not. Perhaps in concjunction with the corresponding template file?

I had a look at the filesize of the stock IM 1.4 version of viewtopic.php versus my existing file, and there is a difference. I do not believe I have modified this file other than with the the IM released phpBB upgrades and the phpBB Security. I suspect that one of these, and quite possibly the latter, is the culprit. Is this site upgraded accordingly, or is this a true stock version of 1.40?

THIS IS A TEST OF THE BOLD HTML TAG

Curious. It does appear to be working here. I am using 1.40 upgraded from 1.32d. It does not function on any of the style templates, including FI Subice, which I have renamed and tweaked ever-so-slightly. My site is listed below for a looksee. Thanks!

Do you have a link to your site...with test account if possible?

What theme you using?

I have tried to recreate the error on my own site but failed to do so as html is shown perfectly all the time.

I am pasting portions of flappadap's post from the old site, as I am having the exact same problem and hope to get a response here:
