I guess I don't think of it as im vs im2 at all. Neither is a fraud.
Think of it this way. If you are using IM140 you can get support at IM.com and IM2.com. But after that you get support from where you download the software. So, if you are going to use IM1.41 you use this forum for support. If you goto IM.com and download IM2.0 then you stay there for support.
To put everything in a nutshell IM.com is where Integramod was started. We were hosted by Wekke, Wekke would vanishish for long periods of time while we developed IM140, afterwards he came back and said he would develope IM141 alone. Several months went by without even seeing Wekke.
The Team decided since we can't get in touch with him we would develope IM Lite. While this was happening we needed Wekke for the server because we were having lots of outages. No one could get in touch with him. The team wanted to keep the community going so we decided to move to a new host.
Wekke then returned and even after reading our posts about why we moved he said we were taking HIS project. The project belongs to the community, not a single person. Well he then decided instead of talking to some of us he would instead kill our forum permissions. He then vanished for a few more weeks, so we started IM2.com and have been doing our best to keep Integramod alive. Since his resurrection I know I have been banned from IM.com But Wekke is more than welcome here.
So it's up to everyone to decide what is best for them, IM 1.41 or IM2.0
OK thanks for the very detailed explanation. I didnt mean for it to come off as IM vs. IM2 as in a fight (altho it almost appears they are); I meant versus as in comparison. With all the ups & downs and vengeful acts going on one could conclude without asking that all the recent events are very coincidental. Im not suggesting a conspiracy theory, but the thought has crossed my mind more than once. I'm in the same position as gcomfx, I need to do whats best for my community. I think its time to drift away from 1.4.0 and check out IM 1.4.1, IM 2.0, or other 3rd-party solutions. I really dont want to because IM 1.4.0 to me is the best community application I've ever used. The other reasons to delay migrating is the lack of 1.4.0 to 1.4.1 or 1.4.0 to 2.0 update scripts. In the meantime I guess I will accept the challenge of preventing hackers from tearing down my 1.4.0 community until I see it fit to migrate to something else.Statistics: Posted Author: Solomon — Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:52 pm
