sry helterskelter, I'm not sure what you mean by running the sql for the security update. The only thing I did is follow the directions in the security update thread (gffb posted the link). I don't know what else I'm supposed to do.

I'm beginning again. My new website was put on a windows box, I'm having it moved to a linux box so I can handle file permissions better. All files showed to be chmod 777 and I can't make those changes thru my ftp client on a windows machine. I'll save everything as-is and reinstall it as necessary as soon as they get my IP's to me.

did you run the sql for the security update? you should also use the cookieMOD from the dl section to be sure cookies are not the issue

ok did the following:

1. on existing database, backed it up. Then uploaded the 'install' folder from the phpbb to IM140. did the security changes by hand, then ran the update_to_latest.php.

2. exported database from phpmyadmin to local. created blank database on new host. imported the db from local. NOTE: the db created shows as an SQL4.x db...

3. uploaded entire update phpbb to IM140 package. copied everything from the 'root' folder to a folder named the same as on my old server (main). Copied config.sys and includes/phpbb_security.php to their appropriate places. Then copied config.sys to local and changed the file to point to the db in it's new location, with the correct admin name and pw. re-uploaded.

tried to access .../main/portal.php. I get a totally blank page, done immediately. no errors or anything. any ideas?

OK, I'm going to repeat this back to see if I'm going to proceed correctly...

I can access my old forums. Should I do the following:
1. upload 'update_to_latest.php' from the phpbb to IM140 install folder, make the 'security' changes by hand, and then run update_to_latest.php in the browser.
2. Go to admin and perform a full database backup and save locally, as well as any uploaded files I've added. (or should I do this through myphpadmin or does it matter?)
3. Create new blank db on new server with same name as existing database (should this be SQL5?)
4. upload all of phpbb to 1.40 upgrade on new server, putting the 'root' folder files right into the forums location.
6. copy config.php and includes/phpb_security.php from old server to new, as well as any extra files such as sigs/avatars/etc.
7. import old db to new server through myphpadmin.

if this is correct, how do I point to my imported database? the path will not be the same on the new server. Also, how should I handle templates? Should I import db then install templates? Should I uninstall all templates in existind db before exporting it?

Sorry guys, my noob is showing on this one HAHA! I really appreciate all the help. GFFB, if worse comes to worse I can follow that path, thanks for the advice.

he doesnt need to install anything if his db is intact.
the files in the upgrade package are already updated to include the security mod update and phpbb2.0.21.
I realize your trying to help, but what you just suggested will take 10-20 times longer and will accomplish the same thing

SeNTry, if you can still access your old forum, you can run (only) the db updates from the security update and the update_to_latest.php from the install folder in the beta phpbb to IM140 upgrade.
Then your database will be fully up to date. You can now export it and install it at your new host.
The reason i said to use your old config.php and includes/phpb_security.php is because i left them out of the update package to keep users from overwritting thier own.

@Helter Is this not for upgrading from phpbb or phpbb-plus not to be used for upgrading IM2.0.17 to 2.0.21

Try the following
1. Create a folder and upload integramod 1.40 files form download [url=http]Here (english lang Only Link)[/url].
2. Create a new blank database for your new install.
3. Install integramod 1.40 as per normal install instructions connecting it to your new database.
4. Download and apply all the updates 2.0.17 through to 2.0.21 use promodded files and follow instruction remembering to call update_to_latest.php each time
5. Download security patch 103 and install
6. Apply all the latest patches from this topic [url=http]Here (SECURITY FIX A MUST DO)[/url]
7. Check this topic [url=http]HERE[/url] for SQL 5 fixs and other fixs that you might suffer from.
8. Then once your forum is up and running with all the patches you can do either of the following.

Option 1, Delete all the tables from the temp database and and import your old database and over write your new config.php and includes/phpbb_security.php with your old ones from your old host

Options 2, Re-create your old database and edit your config.php to reflect your old database values and do the same with phpbb_security.php.

I think that will get your new forum up and running with your old database.

ok, so on the new server, I just use the phpbb to im140 package? I don't need to install anything else first?
Then copy config.php and includes/phpbb_security.php, and templates?

I don't think I did any security mod... can you tell me what I should do for that?

and the SQL 5 db will be functional?

OK, my IDIOT hosting company has just pulled the last stunt I'm willing to put up with. I've had SQL connection errors for months which they've denied all along because they look at it the next day when it's running again- today I finally get them to look while it's happening and their 'repair' job included updating my db to SQL 5. So now my board is borked. I'm running IM 2.0.18.

I want to move my forums to a new hoster, which I've already secured. I don't mind to do the patches to make 2.0.21 compatible with SQL 5 if they're dependable. I've read lots of forums here today for help, but I'm just getting confused at this point, so I'd really appreciate some straightforward advice.

To set up 2.0.21, do I have to install a previous version and do all that upgrading? Please tell me there's a current full package of integramod for install without going through the pain of updating. (Sry guys, you've been great here and helped me a LOT! but I gotta say, the upgrading thing is BS. I want to run my forums, not tinker with the innards of a hundred files. I know you're working hard on it, I'm just frustrated right now.)

I need help with this:
-What to do to install 2.0.21 fresh (desperately hoping for a current complete install package)
-Import my DB (I saw a couple posts on this, wondering what's the easiest. I can probably figure it out if I have to)
-What can/should I do about my DB being SQL 5?
