Finally I will be able to join again discussions on this new forum (my pseudo was Jon on the previous IM board, but I decided to used back my "usual" name).

I am having quite an annoying problem on my forum at http://www.secret-japan.com/forum. This board is in English, but dedicated to travels in Japan, so there are often Japanese characters used in the message.

On IM 1.4.0 / phpBB 2.0.19, everything is working fine.
However, after upgrade to 2.0.20, there is a big problem: Japanese characters, instead of being written correctly, are now shown as entity numbers!

It should be :
Line number On/Off | Expand/Contract | Select all

But I had the following text instead (without the space before the ; )
Line number On/Off | Expand/Contract | Select all
&#24335 ; &#26681 ; &#23798 ;


So I found that this bug was reported [url=http]on pbpbb.com[/url], and a fix suggested]making the following change to includes/functions_post.php:

So far so good, Japanese (and thus Chinese, etc) characters are now displayed properly. But when someone edit a message, then in the edition box, the entity numbers are still showed instead of the Japanese characters, which makes the edition almost unusable...

Do you have any idea how to correct this problem? I am not sure if it is due to the bug in phpbb 2.0.20, or if other functions in IM have to be changed...


Same problem can be found on this board: you see that the Japanese characters are displayed properly in the code box above, but if you edit this message, you will not be able to see those characters...
