Integramod.com was hacked

PostAuthor: Frost » Wed Oct 11, 2006 6:38 am

Wow, after checking on the status of the old integramod site I was surprised to see that it had been defaced by a hacker calling himself ######## Out of sheer curiosity I decided to google the name and what do you know. Alot of sites have recently been defaced by the same person. This isn't really a person, it's a member of a hacker group. From what I see it was probably root access or backdoor access to a server abd they just hit every host on that particular server. Either way it's a good thing you guys moved lol.

Stupid hackers

Yeah, I think it took him about 1 hour to get it all back to normal.

Yea all the "hacker" does is replace the whatever page is loaded first with his. I don't think they are out to destroy anyone's content, they just want to "look cool"

There are sites that list what all sites were defaced and which hacker did it and it keeps up with how many they've done etc etc...

Kind of like a stupid game.

At least since they don't destroy the site you can quickly fix it and figure out the security hole and fix that as well, kind of helpful in a sick way.

p.s. You guys can delete this whole thread if you want, I would understand

It's sad to me that someones upbringing will determine their fate when it comes to decisions made in their lives. Imagine the kids who have the talent to do that, wasting their life away doing it for popularity. They get caught, they go to jail, they pay fines, they get banned from using anything less of a home land line telephone, it goes on their record and prevents them from ever being able to get a legitimate job doing it etc...

When they could have simply gone to the correct schools (to get that paper that shows you can do it, when you can do it without ever having any schooling, better than half the people who have the degree). Then they would be making a very healthy chunk of cash doing what they like to do in the first place in a proffesional sense.

What a waste.

my site was hacked so much, that my members were implying that "I" of all people was the one hacking it. Here I was, up in the wee hours of the morning, fixing my site, for these idiots to imply that I was the hacking it. I had to direct them to a few threads here on this site, to show them that my site wasn't the only one.

But I digress.. it seems like there's no good workaround for the Remote File Include attack, other than to install mod_security and filter the phpbb_root_path variable, which is what the hackers are using to exploit integramod sites

I made a post about this here http://www.integramod.com/forum/viewtop ... 5089#15089

I haven't even looked into this much but I did notice that over at integramod.com they have "a" fix for a remote file include exploit, but it's for their 2.0 or im140

the article is here http://integramod.com/home/portal.php?article=1

maybe that'll help someone lol
