there are no new mod additions. 141 is all the bug fixes and php5 compatibility. 2.0 is the release that will be a drastic change

ah okay...sounds like fun.
Think i shall hold off on the upgrade to php5 till my host upgrades to php5.

taking the chance of being the dumb question, but php 5 compatible, means just compatible. not that you have to be running php 5 to upgrade to 1.4.1?

That is correct. The update will be encouraged for everyone regardless of php version, because all the known bug fixes are included and it will ensure that everyone is on the same page

Will manual update scripts be available for those runnign modified installs?
This way people can choose wether they wish to install the php5 upgrade sections of code.
I am just loathe to risk "upgrading" to something i do not require at present and risk further bugs.....although that said i am sure this will be thoroughly tested on php4 to ensure backwards compatability before its release yes?
Maybe i worry over nothing.

So just a whole lot of file editing?
And as simon said the ones who have installed mods, that will leave us to manually modifying files because a good bet of just replacing the changed ones will leave the mods useless..
And from the othersite 141 was said to have all those other mods that were being verified as time went on, so those have been pushed to IM2 and im 141 is just bug fixes for im140?

Am guessing I shall upgrade as and when released. Only reason being....cant help others out if you dont have the latest software yourself.
Also after letting my old board slide so far into oblivion I do not fancy having to spend days manually alterring tables and code again.

I believe Teelk has a copy of all the files that where changed for this version......as there is no database change and for thos who have added mods (myself included) it will only mean using software like winmerge to compare the changes...
Depending on how many files have been changed it shouldnt take long at all...

Would be cool if each change is commented to reflect the fix...as some have kept up to date with bug fixes. Can then just apply those that are not already implimented.
Although i use dreamweavers find and replace most of the time and its so damn simple. I also have dreamweaver 8 set up so it uses winmerge to compare files.....it all gets so nice and easy <img>
Maybe this is something that could be adopted for future updates?

Off topic sorry but how do you set up Dreamweaver 8 to compare files?

Head to edit>preferences>file compare
Just enter the location of your file comparing software and hit OK.

As it stands right now 141 has a manual update. This may change in the future if the number of changes increases to too high a number, but right now every move that is made is being added to an update file.

For the record I copied one of my 1.4.0 test sites to a temp directory and overwrote it with the current beta 1.4.1 (except for config.php <img>)à¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¦ Everything is working fine. Note I did not have any additional mods installed. I dont suggest any one should do this its just to show what may be possible.

Helter may be able to help. 1.4.1 has updates for php5 but is definitely beta... If he doesnt see this post you may have to PM him but remember it is actually pre beta even if it works well.

taht was Weeke's project that he was developing on the live integramod.com, which is what broke it and led to all of us leaving. I dont know the current state of his developement, but I do suspect he is a long way from done as he was never in a hurry and would not accept help from anyone. The version we have been working on here will have all the known bug fixes, use a current phpbb, and fix a few other issues to allow for more customizability. There has also been discussion rgarding adding a few already tested mods that will not add additional beta testing time. The goal is to get it out asap and to have a reliable(easier) upgrade path.

This is just a guess, but I am guessing the actual update from IM140 to IM 141 will be a lot easier than going from a phpbb forum. haha cause that can be... well.. Tasking..
I wonder if you could make a fantastico updater with IM.. LOL Or put IM with Fantastico. That would be sweet. As of right now Fantastico installs everything for a website except the best thing around.. IM baby!!

It has been considered before, but I beleive it costs a large amount of money to put yourself on their releases. I do wonder if one day we have a supporters club, a bit like a donation thing that the money can be put toward such a venture. But for now, I think we need to get our own operations even smoother when installing and maybe consider fantastico if we get a lottery winner as a benefactor. <img> (oh please!)

Even if you do beta test you can test as a live site. But it is getting pretty close. Can't rush perfection. <img>

I think Eon meant you can not use this as a live forum.
Please be patient, the public beta will be released very soon. But there will be no upgrade path untill the full release.
And again, there is no time table for the public beta or full release.
We are trying very hard to get this out to you so please hang on as long as you can.

The new 1.4.1 is php 4 and 5 compatible. The current beta has a couple of minor issues, but doesnt everything, or do I live in cuckoo landà¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¦ Dont answer that.
Anyway only a few more bugs to solve before public Betaà¢Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚ ¬Ãƒâ€šÃ‚ ¦
