[Solved] Making A Second Forum Index?

PostAuthor: Ezra » Thu Jun 29, 2006 9:25 am

Hi,

I'm planning on adding a new forum category with over 60 subforums (I already have some other categories with forums in it). I was wondering if it's possible to make a second forum index page for that? (like this one: http://integramod.com/forum/index.php) In this case it would be much more surveyable if they would appear on a seperate, second forum index.

I know you can make multiple portal-pages, but is it also possible to make multiple forum indexes?

Thanks,
Ezra

Here is an idea, if you divide the top level into 2 main categories and then divide all your forums under those two categories then you can link to them http://your forum.com/forum/index.php?c=1 and http://your forum.com/forum/index.php?c=2

go to acp-forum admin-management+ add a new forum, at the to select 'Choose the kind of forum you want' to 'category'. Fill in the details of your first division. and enter it. Do this again for the second division.

now make your first of 60 forums. Set the 'Attached to' dropdown to your first category, and then continue making forums and put them into the relevant category.

You can of course make further sub categgories and sub divisions as you see fit.

Then you will see that index.php will show both top two categories and the forums withn them. The art is to find the links to those two categories as suggested in the first post and link to them in your menu at the top and side as you see fit through Qbar

Thanks Adrian, I understand what you mean.

The only problem I see is that I'll still see all 60+ forums on the forum index (within one of the two categories). Let me put it this way: Isn't it possible to just hide one category on the main forum index and only link to that category in the menu's as you described?
