Banned in the Shoutbox

I've been having some odd problems. Banned users are still able to access and post in the shoutbox.

Anyone seen this issue or know a fix?

are they banned via ip, email or username?

do you have the shoutbox block enabled on the portal? If so create a new usergroup called banned or something similar, remove the banned users from the Members group and edit the block in the acp to allow Members

Its added to a tpl instead of the block method.
