Suggestion: Who's New Block

I don't know if this exists already but a nice way to welcome new members is to have a block listing x-number of latest people who joined. That'll encourage people to say hello, etc.

It'd be ultra modern if it had a thumbnail of their display pic lilke the User Block has, and customise it either by "last x-number to join" or "joined in the last week/month".

We already have "The newest registered user is X" on the who's online block. Could we expand that into a block of its own listing the last 3, 5 or 10 people to join and maybe hav the list scroll...

I'd give it a go but would it be difficult to do? I've never made a block before <img>

Much appreciated.

I say go for it. That would be kinda cool. I got my hands full of two mods Im working on and a block as well.

It will be interesting to see in use if it pans out.

I found this in the archive section:

http://www.integramod.com/home/viewtopi ... time+limit

Looks like it's quite possible. Will it work with IM141, tho?

I'm busy with A block like this, and the amount of new users can be set in the portal config.

I only have 1 problem, the block was working 4 times, and after that, the whole portal was empty until I disabled the newest_user block. Then all other portalblocks were visible again.

Obiku - i tried to register on your site but the visual code got me (like it does on all IM forums) so now i have

"U hebt het aantal keren dat de Visuele Bevestigings Code per sessie gemaakt kan worden verbruikt."

to greet me.

Is there not an easier visual code - I and others just can't tell whether some of the letters are capitals or lower case....

Such a shame to lose new members cos they can't read that silly code.

Yea you can lower the settings. Do things like drop it to a single font, reduce the back ground image. Mine is lowered and still no spam gets in, people don't seem to have any reg problem since.

It's very close to what i'd like, obiku so thanks a lot for building it.

How do i get rid of the irrelevant data tho, such as the user id column? I'm also not sure about the importance of the Last Online column as they've only just joined so unlikely to hav logged in more than once. Also, why do other members need to see that?

Better would be to add a field from their profile, e.g. the first 200 characters from user_occ.

The more words n pix it has written by the actual member and the less computer data it has, the more humans will want to interact with it - and the other members, which is all you need to make a site social and therefore popular.

Ok, someone must have "bombed" the wrong post, or should i say person. (deleting my post <img> )

but are you using FireFox, and refreshed the screen,
then the number of attempts are gone fast

User Occupation cell is just 100 characters long.... But it can be done.

If you want to remove things, just delete the table cell's in the newest_user_block.tpl. This is the easiest way, if you have some php knowledge you can edit the sql in the blocks_imp_newest_user.php to add/ remove data. If you take a look at how it is done now, you will get there.
