Ok great. Give me some time o this one. It may take days befor I get to it. I got a lot on my plate right now. Hopefully in the next day or 2 I will be able to do something with it.

I have been reading up on their forums and right now there is MAJOR hacking issues going on using this mod. If you dont mind your site getting hacked and shut down by your host, Ill keep looking into it.

That is the reason I have not attempted to install it yet. Im not worried about my host shutting me down as I AM the host, but am worried about my server being compromised.

There is a standalone version that will work with Integramod it seems. Im looking into the other one as we speak.

And the regular version is NOT pcp compatible. Im looking into it now. As far as PCP goes all it is doing is adding a users auction rating to the profile. That shouldnt be hard to do at all. I can get buttons added and workingin PCP no problem at all.

There is one other edit though that needs to be done to make it work and Im not so sure if I can figure it out or not.


But even if I do, are we willing to let our sites get hacked? <img> If I do install it and get it working Ill let you know but most likely if I do it will be for a VERY brief period. I wont leave it on my server as long as no hack fix is to be found.

Well, I have decided that I can not install this on my server. I can take a peek at the files and see if I can make them compatible with PcP, BUT there is a dirty fix for the hacking issue, but I am not willing to take that chance.

Take a look at the standalone version that is available at phpbbstyles I believe it is. It may work and it may not.

The reason I have decided against this is simple. THe website in question where the mod is home to, is a fine site and Im sure the staff is as well. But their lack of getting this problem fixed after 3 years leads me to believe that they are not ever going to fix it. And since phpBB2 is gonna e scrapped with server upgrdes here soon enough, it might not be worth their effort to fix it for phpBB2.

I would feel real bad making something work for your forum knowing good and well that you WILL be hacked. I can not in good faith do that. And its not only you that would suffer. It would be thousands of others. What the hack does is it finds your install path and allows the hacker to put files into your system that sends out MASS spam mails.

I do promise this much though, I will keep checking back at their forum and if a fix is ever found, I will 100% galdly do a test install and make it pcp compatible.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

You can allways check inot that stand alone version from the phpbb styles website. That one Im not so sure about.

I do have the files and looked for something bad reviewed about it and found nothing. The only version that was being hounded over being hack hungry was the regular version.

You know, I was sitting here lastnight and was thinking.....Uh oh......ha ha ha


anyhow, I was thinking, why not use the classified ads mod. Your users or who ever is selling stuff for these fake points you speak of, can place an ad and in the de.scription say something like, " this auctions will end on X Date. Please place all bids in the comments. "

Now this would put an end to anonymity, but it would actually work. Highest bidder gets the item and then the person sets the status of the auction to sold.

It is kind of hard to read right now as I need to do some more css work, but it will give you the gist of what I am talking about. The only difference between the one I use and the one you can download is, mine is paid ads. Meaning you can charge people to place ads. The regular version can not be made to accept payments.

Just a thought. Let me know if you need a hand with this if you decide to use it. It is a quick easy painless install that only takes about 5-10 minutes.
