Suggestions for blog feature?

I am running a phpbb board with IM Portal and would like to be able to start adding blog posts on my portal page, with the ability to have comments left for the blog posts. I would also like to be able to have these articles archived so that the last few titles/headlines are shown in a block on my forums page.
Can somebody suggest a good hack for me, including a portal block file?
