IntegraMOD 141 Public Beta RC2 is released!

PostAuthor: Fubie » Thu Jul 27, 2006 8:38 am

We are happy to announce the release of the Public Beta RC2 for IntegraMOD 141. This means it is the second beta, there may be more before a final release. You can download the new beta from the download link at the bottom of this post.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL -
The Beta release is for the purposes of finding and fixing issues before the final release. This means IT IS NOT for installing for use in a website for public use. DO NOT use it as such. NO SUPPORT will be given for any website running the beta. The purpose of the public beta is to increase the chance of finding faults, bugs and issues before the final release and thus making it more stable for final release.

Please only use the Public beta forum to discuss issues relating to the public beta. http://integramod.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=52 Official beta testers can still use the private development forum.

The following changes have been made. These are not all of the changes, only a few highlights.

  • Added "QBar/QMenu open in new Window"
  • Removal of the points system in preperation of CashMOD being installed.
  • Installation of CashMOD.
  • Added Cback Cracker Tracker Professional 2nd Edition version 4.1.7.

We hope you like the improvements.

The Team

ummm.. under the admin in the user admin section, clicking on Points Configuration gives "The requested URL /integra/admin/admin_points.php was not found on this server."

is IM 141 MySQL5 compliant?

thought I read on board that it was...but instructions in BETA zip still refer to MySQL 3 & 4

Did I misunderstand or misread?

It is mysql5 compliant. The instructions have yet to be cleaned up as we are still making changes.

Points MOD was removed and CashMOD was added. Forgot to remove that link. Thanks for pointing it out.

Can some kind soul post the instructions for unzipping and installing on the server please? That is instead of unzipping locally on the PC and FTP'ing into place?

Cheers.

Re: IntegraMOD 141 Public Beta RC2 is released!

PostAuthor: florida4x4 » Fri Jul 28, 2006 4:55 am

For the record I run CentOS Linux 4.3 with php-4.3.9, mysql-4.1.20, apache-2.0.52. Since I have shell access, I used wget to pull the file and unziped it in place. I created a new database with a new user, set the user permissions and ran the install.php.

Another thing I noticed during the install was it said that it deleted the install directory, click to continue, but the install directory was intact. I deleted it manually before moving on. The script broke if the install dir remained on the server.

I'm real sure it was "I have removed the install dir" click to continue. I can blow away the database and reinstall later this evening if it is necessary.

When it states "I have removed the install directory" It is basically stating that you have manually removed the install directory and are ready to proceed.

Does that make sense? <img>

The install does not remove the directory for you.

It makes sense now but the wording threw me off. Maybe it should say. "Remove the install directory than click to continue". I recall plain old phpBB doing something like that.

Downloaded the RC2 edition from Fubie's site, unzipped it and FTP'd to server.

Changed permissions but was unable to find "modules/cache/explain, so obviously couldn't change that to 777

In the install menu browser there is NO selection for MySQL5 The DataBase drop down menu only has 3XX and 4XX. (had to choose somethig so chose MySQL4)

[color=red]Originally had error listed here...but it was operator error <img>

From the beginning of development 1.4.1 has had the following database selections; MySQL 3.x, MySQL 4.x/5.x, MySQL 4.x/5.x /w MySQLi.

The fact that you only have 3 and 4 to choose from confuses me quite a bit, as RC2 is a recent copy of the SVN BETA(latest dev version)...

Can anyone else confirm this? Something very strange must have happened if those database choices are missing.

Outstanding! I had tried integrating this last year on my own and found it to be quite buggy, but it seems to be working well at this point. Well done!

Re: IntegraMOD 141 Public Beta RC2 is released!

PostAuthor: tekguru » Sat Jul 29, 2006 12:41 pm

Now, as I've had a bit of time to play, a few Q's / thoughts:

- Setting the IM Portal to use a different right hand column width (I chose 160) appears not to have any effect.

- How easy is it to translate a working IM 140 theme to 141? As far as I can see the only difference is with the message editor and that looks very complex to convert over. Asking as I installed my current BBLite modiifcation and it worked excepting the editor.

- Suggested additional Mods: M2F and SmartFeed - both viable and easy to integrate useful Mods.

- Mini-Mod: En forum it was discussed that Debug mode could easily be turned on/off via the ACP. Might be useful to build it in.

- Love the new Mac style Integra theme, when we migrate I'm hoping that we can use a variant of this using green or grey instead of the blue. Mind you I might be brave and try to design our own custom theme - if a decent tutorial is made available.

I just hope the migration process works well! We'll be looking to do a test move over a sI hav some custom BBCodeds I'll have to add in before we can transfer as well as relocating some of the banners.

Basically very impressed so far guys!

Well I added in my custom BBCode which uses the Table BBCode only to find that of course that the code is already in there and incompatible.

So I need to know how to change the new Table code to use TableN (for Table New. I tried to change it last night but it screwed up royally, so is there an easy way to change that new code without removing it totally.

Reason is I can't change the code we use as it is used extensively in over 98 reviews on the live site.

Any ideas?

Re: IntegraMOD 141 Public Beta RC2 is released!

PostAuthor: Michaelo » Sun Jul 30, 2006 6:39 am

Installed RC2... Went perfectly note I did not install Prill...

A note re the with of the right blocks. In portal_body for any theme it uses the following code...
Code: Select all
<td>

however I change it to...
Code: Select all
<td> OR<td>

As I never use the footer blocks, this allows setting of the right blocks in ACP
Even if you use footer blocks it is probably worth changing the portal_body to the first option in all themes as most often people use the same width on header and right blocks...

When selecting [Printable version] for a KB article, the formatting is botched in that the output text is centered in entirety.

In kb_article_body_print.tpl add <div> before table tag and </div> before end body tag this will align the entire article left (see code below).

[code]  <DOCTYPE><html><head><meta><meta>{META}{NAV_LINKS}<title>{SITENAME} ]

Thanks for the fix on KB print format.

Where can we find instructions for the new KB functions?
Formatting:Pages
Use the '[page]' command to split the article into pages
Table of contents (TOC)
Use the '[toc]' command to add entry in the TOC
Abstract
Use the '[abstract]...[/abstract]' environment to insert an abstract
Title
Use the '[title]...[/title]' environment to insert a main title
Subtitle
Use the '[subtitle]...[/subtitle]' environment to insert a subtitle
Use the '[subsubtitle]...[/subsubtitle]' environment to insert a small header
The KB footer does not indicate the version number, and the provided link proceeds to a dead forum link at http://www.phpBB.com. From what I could find on the http://www.mx-system.com site, Haplo's version of this mod is still beta. While I am eager to have this newer version included within 1.4.1, I hope it proves to be stable. Having said that, I have not noticed any immediate bugs beyond the minor print formatting. I will be testing this mod further and be sure to report any problems.

Good idea, this version is taken from an mx mod (the code would suggest). If you find any inconsistencies report them to Beta bugs forum... <img>

You can try on my site, I installed it a few weeks ago.

If tested it, and have to say, the templates needed some work. Also in the original install the

the title, subtitle and subsubtitle did not have the effect as I thought.

I already changed the template, the font height for the different bbcodes.

BTW, I created two images for approve and dissaprove, one thumb up in green [flash=,:1gp85hel]http://www.familie-smit.nl/forums/templates/fisubice/images/icon_approve.gif[/flash:1gp85hel], one thumb down in red [flash=,:1gp85hel]http://www.familie-smit.nl/forums/templates/fisubice/images/icon_unapprove.gif[/flash:1gp85hel]

So does this mean that if we have ADR installed we basically can't upgrade to 4.1?

Is it possible to have both points and cash mod in there? I'm rather concerned about this because I personally have no use for the cash mod since my site is totally free, I do however use the points mod for ADR.

CashMOD is just a more advanced version of the Points System MOD, it's doesn't deal with real money. CashMOD allows you to have as many different currencies as you'd like, exchange between them and set their worth compared to each other.

Therefore, if you run a MOD that uses user_points and another that uses user_money as the db fields, then you can have them both running on the same board.

So is CashMOD basically the Points MOD with extra stuff added or will those of us with ADR need to go through our ADR files and locate and make changes to everything referencing the points MOD to be compatible with the CashMOD?

The Points System uses the user_points field in the user table, with the CashMOD you can create the user_points field, thus making it work with any MOD that uses the field user_points. This includes the ADR MOD.

As an example of what you can now do with CashMOD...

MOD A uses user_points...
MOD B uses user_money

You can set up 2 currencies so that you can use both MOD A and MOD B. MODs that deal with currencies will tell you in the install file what field you need. Then all you have to do is create the two currencies. You can also name them whatever you like...

For example...

user_points could be called Gold
user_money could be called Silver

And, you can set up an exchange rate, so 10 gold could equal 1 silver.

On a fresh install user_points is already created for convenience.

Should it be an easy transition from the current album?, even if it's a total different mod?

FAP already comes with a db migration tool that will have to be worked into the IM 140 to 141 update. Files will need replacing, but that shouldn't be a biggy.

Unfortunatly the install for cracker tracker is much different for 140 as it is for 141.

If one of the Dev's have the time to put cracker tracker in 140 and the write up the instructions they will.

But please remember the the entire team is working hard on 141 and the more time they spend on 140 additions the less time they are working on 141 which means slowing the 141 release.

This would best be answered by a Dev, but I'm betting yes it will. You will need to re edit the IM files for those mods. I'm betting the activity mod will be updated by Found It for 141.

once the final version and upgrade path are released I strongly recommend using the "Safe way to upgrade your forum " tutorial so you don't have to bring your live site down.

I just thought I would give you some stats to think of while you are tesing these betas. When we initially committed the core code to SVN, Teelk had already made masses of changes, updates and made the Integramod core PHP5 compatible.

since 21st of April, there have been 259 times that changes have been made to that core Teelk provided, with a total of 4514 individual file changes. Do not let this panic you on the upgrading, you will find the new release more stable and dependabe than befroe (I hope :)

There is no timeline for release.

It will be released as soon as it is stable enough. But we are getting closer everday!

Has anyone tested the Activity Mod Plus on the beta yet?

Devs, you may want to consider adding this bug fix by evolver (if you haven't already addressed it) http://integramod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13755#13755

Seems to work well. Just helping out...

My site is pretty heavily modded as well, but I have a new install of 1.40 with nothing but a few themes installed just waiting. I'm going to upgrade that as soon as 1.41 is released and install my mods back in afterwards, then move all my databases over.
